MA: Senate passes sweeping criminal justice bill after emotional debate

The Massachusetts Senate early Friday passed a sweeping bill that would upend state laws on crime and punishment, aiming to reduce the number of people ensnared in the thicket of the criminal justice system and ease the tough-on-crime approach of decades past. The vote was 27-10.  Full Article

so do we stop evolving at some magic number ? or do we continue make further mistakes of all kinds in our life ? we all know the answer to that . but hell save the drug dealers , heck no children never die from over dose , or booze for that matter . I think there is plenty of room to help the drug dealers , because many are addicts of course , just as I use to be , but I had to want to stop using , jail was not the key , for me it was someone that truly cared enough about (ME) when I was programing in NA/AA , but while I no longer drink or drug , I still make mistakes , but I sell nothing and try to be the best person I can be , just as most of everyone on this site , trying to move with these unfair laws going this way and that way using a suicide clutch trying to navigate the registry . so how can these people cry over just the dealers 80 or even 90 grams of coke or H , and at the same time give free hand to do what they will with the rest of RC’s that did their time and just want to move on , the youngsters should be able to do what everyone else did back in days gone by , because if this registry is over many of our heads , you know its over theirs , kids have no reason to be in the system ,dang sure not the registry , but in the mean time dealers are killing each other as well as people that owe them money , and RC’s are still on the back burner having to beg for our rights , prison and tougher laws is all we get , no matter how many years we have been clean ,
